Take Back The Night

Join Family Violence Prevention Center during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to Take Back the Night and support survivors of sexual violence. Take Back the Night events have a long history of giving voice to survivors and breaking the silence that often keeps sexual abuse in the dark.

From the Take Back the Night Foundation, “TBTN is about the power of speaking out. Rape, sexual assault sexual abuse, and domestic violence are often labeled “crimes of silence” because of low reporting rates and social discomfort with their public discussion. By shattering the silence on sexual violence, TBTN Events help survivors know that they are not alone, and that these crimes will not be tolerated or left to go silently into the night.”

The event will include Key Note Speakers from community leaders and experts on sexual assault, musical performances, and a survivor Speak Out, which gives the mic to survivors to share their story. We will end with a candlelight vigil to stand in solidarity with survivors.
