In-Kind Donations

A Guide to Making In-Kind Donations

Thank you for considering the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County (FVPC) for your in-kind donation. FVPC coordinates, accepts and distributes donated goods to the many individuals served through our numerous programs.  Donated goods, also known as in-kind gifts, may be items such as clothing, household items, children’s books, nonperishable food, or any other non-monetary items given to nonprofit organizations for philanthropic use. FVPC accepts in-kind donations year-round by prior appointment.

For more information, or to arrange a large donation or coordinate a drive, please contact Harmony Byrd at 937.376.8526, ext. 112 or harmony.byrd@violencefreefutures.org.

How can you help?

Clothing, Furniture and Appliances

Due to space restriction and inventory storage costs, FVPC is unable to accept clothing items, books, televisions; however, by donating them to Goodwill or X*ACT (Xenia Area Community Theatre) our clients still benefit.

Any saleable item can be brought to the Goodwill store in Beavercreek at 2309 N. Fairfield Rd.or Xenia. at 163 N. Allison Ave. on behalf of FVPC.  Donation receipts should then be given to FVPC (mail, email, fax or drop receipts off).  In exchange, gift cards are then issued to FVPC based on the number of donations that have been brought into the store on our behalf.

This program is extremely helpful to our clients and allows them to get the things they need when they need them. Please consider donating in this manner and don’t forget to mention that the donation is being made on behalf of FVPC.

Please call if you have furniture, small and large appliances to see if we have a current need. We ask that you please make sure they are suitable for a family to begin their new violence free future.

Hygiene or Home Starter Kits

Supply FVPC with full-sized hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste.  You can also donate home starter items such as brooms and dustpans, dish and paper towels, trashcans and bags, cleaning supplies (e.g., oven and glass cleaner, disinfectants, kitchen cleanser, dish detergent), rubber/latex gloves, including non-perishable food, paper products, etc., that will be given to those in transition from the shelter into their new apartments.  Items must be new and unopened.

Household Cleaning Supplies Drive

Would you help Greene County’s victims of domestic violence and their children settle into their new homes? How? By coordinating a household cleaning supplies drive! We are asking you (with the help of your friends, place of worship, place of business, etc.) to provide us with buckets filled with all-purpose cleaner, two sponges, dishwashing liquid, dish towels, kitchen cleanser, disinfectant, baking soda, and pot scrubbers.

Meals and/or Holiday Dinners

Every day is a struggle for our clients; many of whom leave all of their belongings behind and have nothing when they come to our safe-house.  We give gift cards to clients in severe crisis.  Provide one or more Walmart, Kroger, or Meijer gift card(s) to help provide a meal for a family.
